Whats Happening......
The Courthouse has been a busy place on Tuesday lately with Spring cleaning, organizing and rearranging.  If you have seen the big red dumpster at the back door, you might be wondering just what we are putting in there.  Don't worry, all the valuable artifacts and historical material is safe, just cleaning out years of accumulated "stuff" from upstairs that is not usable and is of no value.
We have begun the huge task of organizing the vault where we house fragile and valuable (to historians) documents, newspaper, and family artifacts.  Thanks to Lamar Harrison, we now have a dehumidifier to help with moisture control.  We hope to be able to share more of this material as we are able to purchase the necessary cabinets and files to make it accessible.
We also have a pretty big wish list!  Metal shelving, filing cabinets, display carousel for literature and informational material, file folders, sheet protectors and large plastic totes are greatly needed.  If you are inclined to help with the purchase of any of these items, remember that all donations are tax deductible.
I am very pleased to share with you that we will have some much needed help with our ongoing projects of sorting, organizing, and filing.  Mr Jeffrey Welles of Georgia Military College here in Fairburn has volunteered students from his history classes to help beginning June1.  Students from GMC are frequent visitors to the Courthouse, and we always enjoy getting to know them and teaching them about the history of Old Campbell County.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our Tuesday volunteers, Nancy Cornell, Dot Lassiter, Nell O'Shields, Jackie Lambert, and Auverne McGinnis. Dian Quinn left us for a while to watch her newest grand baby, but she has promised to return.  These are loyal, dependable people that we depend on to keep the courthouse open and operating smoothly.  Please feel free to come by to say "hello", we would love to see you!
